in kind

say one were to make a chart, of sorts, of
everyone who had shown them kindness.

just remember the good stuff. and on said
chart one would begin to make circles-
overlap them- so that circles upon circles
would begin to appear. kindness, trust, love.

assign a small remembered deed to each name,
and see that they link, somehow, to the next
small remembered good deed, kind word, hug.

most people can probably make wall-sized
charts of small kindnesses given to them. &
even if we can't go back and thank everyone
for everything, we can stop and appreciate that
person for at least a moment. kindness remembered
can be a source of great good. happy all saints day.

but is really always about something else

This is the theory . . . that anything that is art . . . is presumably about some certain thing, but is really always about something else, and it’s no good having one without the other, because if you just have the something it is boring and if you just have the something else it’s irritating.
