i felt the potential gain was worth the risk
"I candidly admit that I knowingly and deliberately left the planned working area
out of TV coverage to examine and photograph the interior crater walls
for possible bedrock exposure or other useful information.

the photograph is one that has great meaning for me: although it is not a moment of risk, it is a moment of connection and love. actually: love is the riskiest thing around. risk something today, maybe? theresa said it need only be something small. just one small thing. for love.
she also said this: "at the moment of death we will not be judged according to the number of good deeds we have done or by the diplomas we have received in our lifetime: we will be judged according to the love we have put into our work."

what to do

No one can alter truth.
What we can and should do is to search for truth and then serve it when we have found it.
-Maximilian Kolbe
Kolbe refused to see an enemy in any man.His goodness caused those whom one mightnot expect to do so to assume a more humanstance. For this reason, I have been readingquite a bit about him lately. What betterlesson might there be?That- if we choose to- we can go beyond ourselvesand reach for truth.That- when we find it- we will know what to do with it.

margot hartford took these photos- i'm meeting with her tomorrow, as we're
planning on working on a few projects together. in the meantime, wanted to
begin to share a bit of the marvelous wealth. these are just a few, and only
screen shots. must add that some favorites are saved for later- stay tuned.

the intention of doing
they center themselves: prayer, meditation, some sort
of devotion. a handful of my closest friends do this. i often
intend to. it takes five minutes, maybe ten. (or a bit more.)
not much time. but the people who practice it, those i know-
that bit of time they spend- it's clear that that time changes
their lives. (it's in their eyes; a peace others don't have. it's
in their lives, too. but that's another story.)
in the latest issue of rolling stone, the dalai lama mentions
this practice (it's something he has talked about often-
there's a good interview in the magazine).
devotion. & to something bigger.
to live it, though?
how, exactly?
not
just to intend
to live it.
somewhere in madrid saw an english translation (post
title) of something picasso said. tracked it down here.
more (Pablo Picasso to Marius de Zayus) follows:
"In art intentions are not sufficientand, as we say in Spanish:love must be proved by factsand not by reasons. What one does is what counts, and not what one has the intention of doing."(brought to these thoughts today by this)
